Latest news and views on digital health and health technology

Hi all,

It's a busy week next week, with a great DHOx evening event lined up, and also the Pitch Event at The Hill, the final event of the summer events from Oxford's new Digital Health Ideas Lab.

Open Source and Open Data in Healthcare - Monday 19th Sept at 6.30pm, Oxford Martin School

Just a few days to go until the DHOx event on Open Source and Open Data in Healthcare. We're lucky to have an exceptional lineup of speakers on this topic, including:

  • Shane Tickell, CEO of the largest provider of open source software to the NHS, IMS MAXIMS
  • David Miller, the MD of Open Health Care UK, who among other things are the team behind the NHS HackDays
  • Tim Benson, who has recently published the latest edition of "Principles of Health Interoperability: HL7 and SNOMED"
  • Mike Denis, Director of Information Strategy at the Oxford AHSN and AHSC, who will be talking about the vision of interoperable health data across different regional healthcare services.

Registration starts at 6.15 at the Oxford Martin School, with talks starting promptly at 6.30, followed by a drinks reception in the Wadham Room of the Kings Arms Pub across the road. If you haven't already signed up yet, please do so on

The Hill Pitch Event - Thursday 22nd Sept at 5.30pm, Tingewick Foyer, John Radcliffe Hospital

Next week also sees the final event for The Hill summer series, finishing with a pitch event on Thursday 22nd Sept at 5.30pm in the John Radcliffe Hospital. This event gives anyone the opportunity to pitch their project or idea to the audience and a panel of experts, made up of representatives from the regional Hospital Boards, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Industry and Investors. Pitches can be from those at any stage of development from initial ideas and prototyping to those having launched (commercially or otherwise) and looking to scale up and will be open to individuals and teams from all backgrounds and sectors with ideas for digital health within primary, secondary, tertiary and social healthcare.

This is also a great opportunity for the 28 projects started at one of the DHOx Hack Weekends to pitch their idea to a wider audience. If this applies to you, and you've any questions, feel free to get in touch.
